CONTEXT

This course is closely related with others like Physical Activity and Health, Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology.

Our society needs exercise programs to change signs and symptoms of major disorders like cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke, osteoporosis, type II diabetes, obesity, colon cancer, breast cancer, anxiety and depression.

Students of Sport Sciences must acquire many skills intervention with physical activity in the prevention of disease and in the pursuit of improving the quality of life of people and pathology through it.

COMPETENCES

Capacity to transmit attitudes and values as a working professional in all fields of physical activity and sport, participating in the improvement of society.

 Capacity to analyze and apply physiological, biomechanical, psychological and social principles to the different fields of physical activity, sport and recreation.

 Capacity to identify unsuitable practices that pose a health risk, in order to avoid them and correct them in the different types of population.

 Capacity to assess fitness levels and motor skills, prescribing and programming physical exercises geared towards health at different ages.

 Capacity to promote and evaluate autonomous and lasting health-oriented habits based on physical activity and sports.

 Intervening in society with independent criteria, deploying a theoretical, academic and professional discourse relating to physical activity and sports science.
