The course is taught quarterly basis in the third year of the Bachelor of Science in Sport and Physical Activity (5th to 7th semester)
Study of the historical evolution and the current, regulatory and organisational situation of sport athletics.
Running events or track events: classification, rules. Determinants factors of performance. Biomechanics, Physiology and Technique.
Specific training methods and media.
Knowledge and analysis of planning and programming frequently employed in the different specialties. Means of evaluation and control. The practical experience and the necessary mastery of the basic technical skills of each athletic specialty and special exercises.
This program corresponds to the second level of one of the 12 sports at which the student can choose the degree in Sciences of the physical activity and sport. This program is one of the twelve optative sports available in the third for the Sport Science students.

Transmit the values of ethics and professional responsibility in the field of physical activity and sport of athletics, particularly in athletics performance.
Plan, program, implement, control and evaluate the processes of training and competition in its different levels, different athletic events.
Analyze and apply the principles physiological, biomechanical, psychological and social training and competition of the athletics events, identifying abusive practices that involve a risk to health, in order to avoid and correct them in the different types of population.
Select and use spaces, the material and the sports equipment suitable for every type of athletic activity or their training.
Promote and develop research related to learning, training, and high performance of the different athletics events.

Students will be actively involved in the realization of the theoretical and practical classes. Perform group work and individual and group practices performing cooperative work. It will conducte learning based on problems, case method, etc. ..

Course taught in Spanish.
The praxis being particularly necessary, sets the presence and conduct of practical content with a minimum attendance of 80%. Adequate clothing, and especially the proper footwear is essential for the realization of the practices. You don't need to have spikes shoes .
Teaching methodology will be focus in the student, they will build their learning around the subject. Self-learning will be focus on reflection, researching and problems solutions.
