CLINICAL RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
This subject is taught in the second year of the degree in physiotherapy.
It is a compulsory subject.
The course includes a total of 6 ECTS credits.
This course developes a first approach by the student to the world of the physical therapy as it is saw from a clinical/scientific research perspective and it has the ultimate goal of building a bridge between scientific and practical knowledge on the students professional practices what should lead to a global improvement of the student professionally, as well as personally. That ultimate goal will be reach through the development of several competences which will be exposed later.
In order to achieve its goals the course includes three main topics in its contents: A review of the clinical research foundations, an introduction to the data analysis in clinical research and, finally, an introduction to the search of scientific and clinical trials information on multiple data bases.
The students will be able to include into their professional culture the ethical and legal foundations of their profession.
The students have to combine their applied knowledge with their knowledge about research and evaluation in other to improve their practice as physical therapists in an effective and systematic way. They will be able to learn the theories that support the solving problems and critical reasoning abilities.
The students will develop a positive attitude through the learning and their professional development. This will be reflected in a permanent search for new information what will allow them to improve their working procedures.
